Traveling for PhD Studies

From November 20 through December 1, I will be in Vienna, Austria, to attend a research seminar related to my PhD studies in Liturgical Theology. During this time, I will meet with other members of the PhD program at the University of Vienna so we can peer-review each other’s work and have time for more extensive research. During that time, there are some changes to the liturgical schedule at St. Mary. I apologize for the way my absence will affect the daily Mass and Confession schedule, but I hope we can take this as an opportunity to pray for more priests to our area.

There will be no daily Masses during my absence. There will be an 8AM School Mass on Wednesday, November 20. Adoration will continue on Tuesday as scheduled. Fr. Tristan Stovall will take my place for the weekend of Christ the King Sunday. This will be Fr. Tristan’s first opportunity to celebrate Mass at St. Mary and Assumption since his ordination. I hope everyone will congratulate him and assure him of our prayers. There will be Mass on Thanksgiving day at 9 AM at St. Mary. The following weekend is the First Sunday of Advent, and Sunday Masses will take place as usual at both churches. Masses will resume as normal on December 2.

Please pray for my safety in travel and for the success of this research seminar.

Thank you,
Fr. Aaron

MOST REVEREND JOSEPH R. KOPACZ, D.D., PH.D.

I write to you today to reflect on a matter of profound importance in the life of our Church — the call to priesthood. The priest is called to be a shepherd, a servant, and a visible sign of Christ's presence among us. Without the priesthood, we would not have the Eucharist, and without the Eucharist, we would not have the Church.
